Distribution box classification

Commonly used distribution boxes are made of wood and metal. Because metal distribution boxes have a higher protection level, metal ones are more used.

Classified by structural characteristics and usage:

(1) Fixed panel switch cabinet, often called switch board or power distribution panel. It is an open switch cabinet with a panel covering. The front has a protective effect. The back and sides can still touch the live parts. The protection level is low. It can only be used in industrial and mining enterprises that require low power supply continuity and reliability. The transformer room is used for centralized power supply.

 (2) Protective (namely enclosed) switchgear refers to a low-voltage switchgear in which all sides except the installation surface are enclosed. The electrical components such as switches, protection, monitoring and control of this kind of cabinet are all installed in a closed enclosure made of steel or insulating materials, and can be installed on the wall or away from the wall. There can be no isolation measures between each circuit in the cabinet, or a grounded metal plate or insulating plate can be used for isolation. Usually the door and the main switch are mechanically interlocked. In addition, there are protective bench-type switch cabinets (ie consoles), which are equipped with control, measurement, signal and other electrical appliances on the panel. The protective switch cabinet is mainly used as a power distribution device at the process site. 

(3) Drawer switch cabinet. This type of switchgear is made of steel plate into a closed shell, and the electrical components of the incoming and outgoing circuits are all installed in the withdrawable drawers to form a functional unit that can complete a certain type of power supply task. The functional unit and the bus bar or cable are separated by a grounded metal plate or a functional board made of plastic to form three areas of the bus bar, the functional unit and the cable. There are also isolation measures between each functional unit. Drawer switch cabinets have higher reliability, safety and interchangeability, and are relatively advanced switch cabinets. Most switch cabinets refer to drawer switch cabinets. They are suitable for industrial and mining enterprises and high-rise buildings that require high power supply reliability, as a centralized control power distribution center. 

(4) Power and lighting distribution control box. Mostly closed vertical installation. Due to different use occasions, the enclosure protection level is also different. They are mainly used as power distribution devices at the production sites of industrial and mining enterprises.
